About Me

My name is Genevieve, but I prefer Gen, and I'm from San Francisco, CA. I graduated from UC Berkeley in December 2020 with a B.A. in Computer Science. I am currently a software engineer at Pure Storage in the SF Bay Area.

My interest in all things computers started when my mom gifted me a Windows desktop computer in the second or third grade. In between soccer and karate practices, one of my favorite afternoon past times was playing computer games like Wizard101 and the PC version of Lego Star Wars. Many years later, I was lucky to be admitted to the Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program after my sophomore year of high school. That summer was my first introduction to computer science, and I spent seven weeks at Twitter in San Francisco learning the basics of Scratch, Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and jQuery. I was completely hooked, and I guess you could say the rest is history!

Some fun facts about me are...

I have a twin sister 👯‍♀️, but we are fraternal so it is kind of hard to tell.
I like to cook and bake! My favorite thing to cook is kimchi fried rice 🍚, and my favorite thing to bake is banana bread 🍌🍞 (I haven't found anyone who dislikes my mom's family recipe. Sorry, the recipe is top secret!).
My favorite music artist is BTS 🇰🇷. My 2020 and 2021 Spotify Wrapped said I was in the top 0.5% of BTS's listeners...😳
My favorite boba place is Boba Guys, and the strawberry tea fresca is my favorite drink on their menu. 🧋
I am a big fan of Star Wars 🌌, and my favorite T.V. show is Peaky Blinders 🗡🐎️ on Netflix!
